Introducing Baxter Chiropractor Dr. Michael Denery
I'll admit I was a bit bull headed. I never imagined that the five famous words, "maybe it will go away", stood opposite the five equally famous words, "maybe it won't go away".
In a fifteen year career with the Local Union 512 Bridge, Structural, and Ornamental Ironworkers I fractured my spine, shattered my right kneecap, had plastic surgery to repair some large ragged wounds to my forehead, and finally herniated a couple of discs. Back, neck and shoulder pain was a way of life until I met Jack.
Dr. Jack Holtz was recommended by a friend who finally convinced me to give a chiropractor a try. The adjustment didn't hurt, it actually felt good, I got relief and I began to get better. It worked so well that I went to chiropractic school myself.
Going back to school was scary. After completing a list of prerequisites I began my studies at Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington MN. With three children at home; college was so much more challenging than I had imagined, and I soon found myself immersed in the study of the human body. Studying the central nervous system was particularly challenging and I will never forget my professor Dr. Jane Whittich for her kindness, professionalism and sense of humor.
I have three wonderful children Bridget, Jon, and Pete, along with two grandchildren Rochelle, and Samuel who continue to inspire me to greater achievement. Bridget is graduating high school and wants to go on into nursing. Jon is in his second year with a team called GO Ministries. They travel the US and abroad to bring a positive message via music, drama, and the Bible to teens and young adults. Pete is busy selling cars at Forest Lake Ford. He and his wife Nikia along with their two children live in Pine City MN. Nikia is a stay at home Mom who loves her family enough to provide them the best care 24/7. Her sacrifices are an inspiration to her family and to me.
Nature is a big part of my serenity, I can get lost in nature for hours and days. I recently started jogging and I'm planning on running my first marathon this year. During the summer months I enjoy riding motorcycle, roller blading, swimming and bicycle riding.
I enjoy chiropractic visits and I try and see my doctor weekly. For exercise besides jogging I have a Total Gym, and I do push ups, pull ups, dips, and I occasionally workout with some free weights. I'm a firm believer that our bodies are survival tools in spite of our best efforts to kill them. So I try to stick with my version of the 80:20 rule which says that if 80 percent of the time you are taking the best care of your body than the body can survive the 20 percent of the time when you either can't or don't take the best care of it.
